Does Denver, CO really earn its nickname of "Menver"?

I was / am considering attending college at CU-Denver, but now I have reservations due to the fact that I've heard that Denver is nothing but a hugh dude fest so to speak. It is really important to me at this point in my life (I am now 27) to be able to live and attend college in a town where there are eligible single women. I spent five years in the Marines and wasn't able to date because Marines are generally disliked in the nearby towns surrounding Camp Lejeune, NC (i.e. Wilmington and Greenville, N.C.) and the stupid haircut just gives you away as being a Marine. Right now, my sis is giving me a place to stay in Colorado Springs and to put it bluntly, dating is virtually nonexistent in this town. I would prefer not to have to move back home to Nashville, TN and go to school there unless I just have to. So, with that being said, should I really reconsider moving to "Menver" to attend school?
