Who is Gus, and why is God watching him from a distance.?

It sounds a bit creepy, but I was sitting in coffee bar in Cardiff, and I heard these disembodied voices sing 'God is watchin' Gus, from a distance.' If anyone out there knows who Gus is, maybe you could warn him?
