I want to start a salt water fish tank...?

i want to start a salt water fish tank but am not sure where to begin... can i just buy a regular fish tank starter kit with the tank, filter, & heater and then just buy the chemicals on the side or do i need a special filter and heater? and what kind of chemicals will i need to maintain my tank? basically i want someone to just say you need this this and this and your all set to find nemo :)
