What is the name of the machine that cuts timber into slices?

I have a load of 30mm thickness MDF and I was wondering if it's possible to run the sheets through a machine that will cut the sheets into two e.g one 30mm thickness sheet cut into two 15mm thickness sheets (minus of course the blade thickness).
