How did I get a positive result for gonorrhea and my partner tested negative?

I have been monogamous with my boyfriend for 7 months. I have not seen any other guys while with him. Recently, I tested positive for gonorrhea and was treated. He got himself tested and tested negative. How does this make any sense? We haven't been using condoms (I take my birth control pills perfectly).
