John Barton Sombrio Beach literary devices!?

Despite what you've read about Barton writing about s to make people feel uncomfortable, I don't see anything this poem to suggest such a theme. There is a personal theme here rooted in the metaphor of the clear-cut old growth forest as representing something personal which is violently brought to light, but that could be just about anything.
