Should i audition? HELP PLEASE!!?

okay so there is this thing in my school going on and its called "kid idol" and its just like american idol but kids ages 11 to 18 can enter. So i am 12 and i want to audition. The winner recievs a 1,000 dollar check and a chance to be on the radio and sing. I am a good singer. I am planning to audition with the song "A Thousand Miles" by Vanessa Carlton. The only problem i have is if i do make it, will i be able to sing on stage? Any tips on singing on stage and or auditiong? Should i audition? Tips on singing on stage and auditiong? Thanks so much!
